EdQual Participates in the 10th UKFIET International Conference on Education and Development, September 2009

The conference critically examined interactions between politics, policy and educational progress and what they imply for human development in the future - from the global to the local, and at all levels of education.

Hosted by UKFIET, the conference explored the theme of politics, policies and progress. Globalisation, international aid, the marketisation of education and the ‘knowledge economy’ are among the many competing influences on education policy making. Such a contested and politicised arena invites examination of how national and local education policy engages with these and other global influences, and the role that politics plays in the policy process. This international conference will bring together policy makers, administrators, teachers, civil society representatives and researchers from all spheres of education and training to review achievements and address policy challenges.
