Mid-Term Conference on Educational Quality and Outcomes in Africa – Ghana, March 2009
RECOUP and EdQual jointly organised a conference "Enhancing Educational Quality and Outcomes in Africa: Research Findings and Implications for Education Policy", 9-10 March, 2009. Attendees included high level policy makers, planners and key stakeholders from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (MOESS), the Ghana Education Service (GES), academia and civil society.
EdQual presented on leadership and quality in education; literacy research and policy making in the education sector; and the experience of teachers in action research.
RECOUP presented on youth, gender and citizenship; skill acquisition and its impact; education financing and outcomes;aid and partnerships.
At plenary sessions, participants discussed in-depth the relevance of their research findings to education policy and practice in Ghana, and elucidated feedback from policy makers, educational experts and members of civil society.
The presentations and plenary sessions were followed by a media briefing.
