Education for Sustainable Development Research Design Symposium in South Africa, May 2007

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) hosted a Research Design Symposium 22-24 May 2007 in Grahamstown, South Africa. Organised by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Regional Environmental Education Programme and Rhodes University Grahamstown, South Africa supported by: UNESCO, UNEP, SADC, REEP.

The main aims of the symposium and the research group (members from Rhodes University, South Africa, University of Zimbabwe, Mauritius Institute of Education, University of Zambia, University of Botswana, University of Bath, UK) are:

1) To provide a forum for critical dialogue and reflection on environment and sustainability education research, and its contribution to the quality and relevance of education for all in Southern Africa

2) To examine how different educational research designs provide different vantage points and insights into educational quality and relevance

3) To identify research priorities, research questions and methodologies that can take forward this research agenda.
