Edqual supported student recieves split-site Commonwealth scholarship researching quality assurance in Ghanaian polytechnics

Clara Araba Mills has been awarded a split-site Commonwealth Scholarship to cover the costs of 12 months in the UK. She will be based at the University of Bristol, during her Ph.D. studies and will be registered and awarded a Ph.D. by the University of Cape Coast.

Research on family resources and primary schooling in Tanzania awarded Doctorate

The first EdQual-sponsored PhD student has officially graduated after successfully completing their studies. Dr Aneth Komba's research looked at the link between family resources and children's engagement with primary school in Tanzania. She graduated from the University of Bath on July 6 2010 and will be returning to her work as a lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Research on classroom language in Tanzania to be awarded Doctorate

A second EdQual-sponsored PhD student has passed their viva and is set to be awarded a doctorate. Gastor Mapunda, from the University of Dar es Salaam, has been researching the impact that language of instruction has on classroom interaction in rural Tanzania. Gastor passed his viva in April 2010.His work was associated with EdQual's Language and Literacy project.
